Bidang fotografi memang sangat mencabar dan memerlukan kesabaran.. Untuk mendapatkan satu shot yang menarik, masa dan teknik amatlah dititikberatkan. Masa yang terbaik untuk mendapatkan cahaya dan suasana yang menusuk kalbu, waktu subuh, selepas subuh, matahari terbenam dan ketika waktu senja menjadi taruhan. Lokasi yang menarik juga amat penting jika subjek yang ingin ditonjolkan mendapat daya tarikan yang optimum. Untuk mendapatkan gambar seperti di bawah, saya bangun seawal jam 6.30 pagi. Bertempatkan lokasi di Padang Bukit, Rantau Panjang, saya dapat mengambil gambar cahaya di celahan pokok. Nasib memang menyebelahi saya ketika ini kerana, pada hari-hari yang berikutnya, tiada lagi cahaya yang menyimbah untuk diabadikan.

Selain itu, pengetahuan mengenai penggunaan perisian Adobe Photoshop amat berguna.

Dear Journal,

Hahahah... Gotcha.... A little bit "skema" don't you think?? Well actually, its really a travel journal that I'm working on for a quite some time. Just come think about it.... Its has been a while since I'm blogging about my travel journal and its always about weddings, weddings and more weddings... And also... its always about sea, ocean, beach or boats... Well guys.. I love the ocean and beach... it gives me serenity and calm...

Cut to the chase... Yesterday 190609, me and the rest of the family went to Port Dickson to have some relaxing day. For me, photographing and sea always been relaxing and calms me. We have a wonderful day there and this morning we went for a picnic at the Teluk Kemang beach. Its really frustrated when my batery went low and almost an instant I could not shoot anymore... So guys... make sure you always takes your batery charger with you when you go travelling or end up like me... FRUSTRATED... Anyhow.. With some luck... got a pretty good picture to share with you....

Hello world!... hehehe... its been quite a week... from north to the east coast.. covering solemnization and reception from both side of bride and groom.. Its been a hectic week and not only that.. Last week, during the Labour Day 1st May, I've been given the honor to capture the solemnization and reception for lovely and bubbly couple, Hayati and Hassan at Hayati's parents house in Sitiawan, Perak. Last Tuesday I went to Putrajaya to capture Dalila and Amir outdoor portraiture alone without any of my teammates. It was tough not having any assistance but I finally pull it off. With this couple, I have no trouble directing the pose and even the pose itself comes naturally with them. Faizal is my best friend over the years since we are kids. Now, both of us has grown up and our friendship still stand strong like never before. By the way.. wondering why the lighting are different from the other.. Well because there's three different lighting used when taking these photos.

The Survey Result - Wedding Budget

Hi .. its been a while since the last update. Recently, I've posted a poll in my blog to see or rather to know how much people especially in Malaysia are willing to pay their photographer to capture their wedding ceremonies. And, here's are the result.

RM500-RM1000 =>43%
RM1001-RM2000=>18%
RM2001-RM3000=>18%
RM3000 and above..=>6%
Photography is not important..=>12%

What seems bothering me is there's a few people think that photography is not important. Well, bits me. Not sure what are more important than the moments of your glorious day. You tell me... Wearing fancy gown with a fancy throne (pelamin) with fresh flowers and also changing wardrobe in between the ceremony. Costing MORE than RM2,000 just for a day or two and not being able to show your friends or relatives is a bit dissappointment aren't they. At least 43% are still willing to bill on this. So, why can't you? We can call you cheap that's for sure... :)

Having most voters are willing to spent between RM500-RM1000 for their occassion are not supprising. People are tend to keep their budget for more important things such as mention earlier, the dress, the make-up, the throne(pelamin), the food, the goody bags and such. All this can cost more than RM10K if being add-up together. We, the photographers understands your situation. Me, myself are married and know this cost are inevitable. With the price of "What you pay is what you get" to be precise. Don't blame the photographer if the pictures are not as you expected since "What you pay is what you get" being practise for some photographer.

Frankly speaking, we at Ahzadesign Photographer did not tied to the slogan "What you pay is what you get". We give 110% commitment towards out task and we deliver only the best. Nonetheless, we still think that with good money, we can double-up our commitment until 220%. Heheheh.... of course if the bride and grooms have the stamina to maintain.

Also, look from the photographer's perspective. When other people are on leave, holiday, we the photographer are working our butt to please our clients. Isn't there any sympathy for us? Working limitless, squeezing our head for ideas, giving undivided love toward our passion of photography just for a price of what? Peanuts?. Have a heart and reward us for the effort that we put in.

Nah.. no worries... At this point, many of our client are satisfied with the result, eventhough ... you know what I mean. So, lets make an appointment at your own leisure time and we can discuss more. Hopefully there are more clients out there willing to measure up the poll result. Cheers..... :)

The first half of the final chapter.. still one final session. The finale will be a bit later than usual. We began with a wardrobe change in Kak Z boutique in Bangi. After the make-up session, me and the crew began shooting. It was a harsh day. Being able to capture a few in one hour then the rain starts pouring cats and dogs. Seeing this harsh weather, I've decided to stop the outdoor session and we all headed back to the boutique. Thanks to Mrs Aida for taking care of our dinner bills... hehehhe... Here's some of the picture taken that day.

This is the 2/3 of the whole part. Reception at Mr Haizam parents house in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. The reception been done at night and what fright us the photographer most is the low light. Perhaps this is the perfect platform for us to improve our low light photography skills. With the help of an extra photog, Kawanari, Sirreh and Fad including 2 of my own best photographer Hafifi and Shah, we manage to overcome the situation with ease. Here's are few snaps from the second chapter of this couples weddings.

Just now, we had a strobe session at Glenmarie. Here's a picture with the result from the session. With a minor touch-up using Photoshop CS2 and the setup to create this result. [Tips] 11 Tips for Better Candid Photography

Candid styles of photography are increasingly becoming popular both in general day to day photography but also in formal photographic situations. Last time I was asked to photograph a wedding the couple actually hired me purely to take paparazzi style shows of them and their guests throughout the day. They had another photographer for the formal shots and gave me the brief of getting a behind the scenes look of the day.

The results, when they put together my shots with the formal ones were a wonderful blend of photos that told a fuller story than if they’d gone for one or the other.

Below are a number of tips to help photographers improve their ‘candid’ photography. Please note that these tips are not about taking sneaky, voyeuristic or true paparazzi shots (ie photographing people without their permission) but rather about how to add a more candid feel to the shots you take of people that you know.

1. Take your Camera Everywhere

Probably the best way to take spontaneous photographs is to always be ready to do so. I have a DSLR which I take out when I’m on a shoot but between shoots like to cary with a quality point and shoot camera that I can whip out at a moments notice to capture the many opportunities for a good photo that life presents us with. Taking your camera with you everywhere also helps people to be more at ease with you taking their photo. I find that my friends and family just expect me to have my camera out so when I do fire it up it’s not a signal to them to pose but it’s a normal part of our interaction - this means that they are relaxed and the photos are natural.

2. Use a Long Zoom

Obviously the further you are away from your subject the less likely they will be to know that you’re photographing them and the more natural and relaxed they’ll act. Using a telephoto lens or long zoom enables you to shoot from outside their personal space but keep the feeling of intimacy in the shot you’re taking.

3. Kill the Flash

Perhaps the most obvious way that you can signal to another person that you’re photographing them is to use a flash. There’s nothing like a blinding flash of light in the eyes to kill a moment. If possible (and it’s not always) attempt to photograph without the flash if you’re aiming for candid shots. When in lower light situations increase your ISO setting, use a faster lens, open up your aperture or if your camera has a ‘natural light mode’ turn it on. Hopefully one or a combination of these approaches will help you blend into the background a little more.

4. Shoot lots

I’ve written about this before on this site but when you shoot multiple images quickly of a person you can sometimes get some surprising and spontaneous shots that you’d have never gotten if you shot just one. Switch your camera to continuous shooting mode and shoot in bursts of images and in doing so you’ll increase your chances of that perfect shot.

5. Position Yourself strategically

While Candid Photography is about capturing the spontaneity of a moment and getting that perfect shot at the right split second of time I find that if you think ahead and anticipate what is about to unfold in front of you that you can greatly increase the chances of getting some great shots. So at a wedding get to the church early (or even go to the rehearsal) and think about what will happen during the ceremony and where will be best for you to stand to capture each moment. Which way will people be facing? What will they be doing? What will the light be like? Thinking through these issues will save you having to run around repositioning yourself when you should be shooting images - it’ll also mean you take a whole heap less shots of the back of people’s heads!

6. Photograph People Doing things

Images of people doing things tend to be much more interesting than people sitting passively doing nothing. For one your subject will be focussed upon something which adds energy to a photo (and takes their focus off you) but it also puts them in context and adds an element of story to your image. Timing is everything in Candid shots so wait until they are distracted from you and fully focussed upon what they are doing or who they are with and you’ll inject a feeling into your shots of them being unaware and that the viewer of your image is looking on unseen.

7. Photograph People with People

Something very interesting happens when you photograph more than one person in an image at a time - it introduces relationship into the shot. Even if the two (or more) people are not really interacting in the shot it can add depth and a sense of story into the viewing of the image. Of course ideally in candid shots you’d like some interaction between your subjects as that will add emotion into the shot also as we the viewer observe how the people are acting.

8. Shoot from the Hip

If your subject is aware that you’re there and that you have your camera out they might tense up or act a little unnaturally as they see you raising your camera to the eye. The beauty of digital cameras is that it doesn’t cost you anything to take lots of shots and it can be well worth shooting without raising your camera. To do this most effectively you might want to set your lens to a wider angle setting to make up for any aiming problems you might have.

9. Mix up your Perspective

The other beauty of shooting from the hip is that it gives you a slightly different perspective to take the shot from (ie shooting from 3 feet height instead of 6). This adds to the candid nature of the shots. In fact sometimes it’s the slightly crooked, slightly out of focus or poorly composed shots taken from this type of angle that ends up looking the best because they come across as quite random. Of course you can add all these new perspectives to your shots without shooting from the hip. Crouch down, get up high, frame your shots on an angle, zoom in close and then quickly zoom out to a wide angle, break the rules of composition etc and you will add a new perspective to your shots that can mean they look fresh and surprising.

10. Frame Images with Foreground Elements

A trick that I often use in candid shots is to purposely include something in the foreground of the shot to make it look as though I’m hiding behind it. You might do this with by shooting over someone’s shoulder, by including a little of a tree branch or the frame of a doorway.

11. Take Posed Shots into Candid Territory

One of my favorite times to shoot candid shots is when other people are taking formal ones. This is because everyone in the shot is focused on the one element (the other photographer) - but it’s not you. If the main photographer has posed the happy couple of the day or their bridal partly look for a different angle to them to take a shot of the same subject. Often if you take a few steps to the side and shoot from almost a profile position you can get great shots. Also zooming in to take shots of just one or two of the people in a larger group at these times can work well. Also try zooming right out to take a shot of the photographer and their subject all in one. If you’re the only photographer and you’re taking formal shots a great technique is to take your posed shot and then continue to shoot after everyone thinks you’ve finished. It’s often the shots just after the posed one that are the best as people relax and look at each other.

Which road should we choose. Road to success are simple straight. Although its a straight road forward, eventually, you will bump in to obstacles such as pot holes and many more. Many people tend to take left or right but the fact is success is just straight forward. And why is that? When you set a target that is hard to achieve, you'll tend to take shortcuts even when you know the turn that you make is not the right one.

In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

High dynamic range imaging was originally developed in the 1930s and 1940s by Charles Wyckoff. Wyckoff's detailed pictures of nuclear explosions appeared on the cover of Life magazine in the mid 1940s. The process of tone mapping together with bracketed exposures of normal digital images, giving the end result a high, often exaggerated dynamic range, was first reported in 1993^[1], and resulted in a mathematical theory of differently exposed pictures of the same subject matter that was published in 1995 by Steve Mann and Rosiland Picard^[2]. In 1997 this technique of combining several differently exposed images to produce a single HDR image was presented to the computer graphics community by Paul Debevec.

This method was developed to produce a high dynamic range image from a set of photographs taken with a range of exposures. With the rising popularity of digital cameras and easy-to-use desktop software, the term HDR is now popularly used^[3] to refer to this process. This composite technique is different from (and may be of lesser or greater quality than) the production of an image from a single exposure of a sensor that has a native high dynamic range. Tone mapping is also used to display HDR images on devices with a low native dynamic range, such as a computer screen.

How to create HDR image from single RAW photo.

1. From single RAW file, save file in different exposure ie. -2,-1,0,+1,+2 in .jpg/.jpeg file.
2. Open Photomatix and click Generate HDR. Browse all the file with different exposure which have been saved and select all files.
3. See that all the file has been set based on preset. Resetting the exposure if seen there are same exposure.
4. Click OK.
5. Click Tone Mapping.
6. Adjust in Tone Mapping and then save as .tiff
7. Open .tiff file using Photoshop CS
8. Adjust level / saturation / sharpness
9. Save as .jpg/.jpeg and you're done.

The importance of post-processing in Photography

Little we know that post processing in photography is really important. When we take certain photos, we might has thought that "Well.. this photo good enough..". Believe me... its not that good. Even professional photographer with lots of knowledge in photographing breathtaking photos agreed that post processing is essential tool that need to be mastered.

Hectic week...

Wow... what a week... I've been struggling to complete at least 5 custom wedding album and for some unknown reason my computer has crashed and with no reason. The first thing that I discover this when trying to restart my PC and it took at least 5-10 minutes just to log into windows. Same goes if I'm trying to log off or shutting down my PC.

Assuming there's an unknown virus or trojan in my system file, I tried to clean it up with A**** anti virus program and believe it or not, the anti-virus detect at least more than 20 trojan in my windows system. After cleaning up, the anti-virus prompt a request to delete certain system file which has been infected. What a dumb fool I am to confirm and delete all those files. And then... BANG!!!... crash nebula... ooooohhhh.... S**T......

Well... with cool thought and no worries at first, and also with the help of Razi from SelambaKreatif, at his home... We had tried several option to restore my setting but nothing prevails. So, .. still acting cool and what not.. Manage to buy myself a SATA Hard Drive adapter.. which means, my Hard Drive can act externally without any casing.. this to backup all my files and customer's pictures. Maybe because using the P****e one lah... hehehehhe.... Ok.. I think... So.. rush down to KL and ask some IT guy in my sister's company to take a look what the error is and try to install Windows in my PC.

Well.. Now as you can see... I'm back online meaning the PC has been saved. But wait..... The story does not ends here... All my backup partition also have been formatted by the IT guy.... AAAARRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.................... LUCKY I MADE A COPY..........

Photography for Beginner - Time

All photographer are time exposures of shorter or longer duration and each describes an individually distinct parcel of time. The photographer, by choosing the length of exposure, is capable of exploring moving subject in a variety of ways. By choosing long exposures moving objects will record as blurs. This effect is used to convey the impression or feeling of motion. Although describing the feeling of the subject in motion much of the information about the subject is sacrificed to effect. by selecting fast shutter speeds photographers can freeze movement. We can see the nature of an object in motion, at a particular moment in time, which the human eyes unable to isolate.

Fast shutter speed
By freezing thin slices of time, it is possible to explore the beauty of form in motion. A fast shutter speed may freeze a moving subject yet leave others still blurred. The ability to freeze subject matter is dependent on its speed and the angle of movement in relation to the camera. For subject matter traveling across the camera's field of view, relatively fast shutter speeds are required, compared to the shutter speeds required to freeze the same subject traveling towards or away from the camera.

Limitation
Wide apertures in combination with bright ambient light and/or a high ISO setting will allow the use of a fast shutter speed in order to freeze rapidly moving subject matter. Some telephoto and zoom lenses only open up to f4 of f5.6 . If used with a slow ISO setting there is usually insufficient light to use the fastest shutter speeds available on the camera.

Slow shutter speed
When shutter speed is slowed down, movement is no longer frozen but records as a streak. This is called 'movement blur'. By using shutter speeds slower than those normally recommended for use with the lens, movement blur can be created with relatively slow moving subject matter. Speeds of 1/30, 1/15, 1/8 and 1/4 seconds can be used to create blur with a standard lens. If these slow shutter speeds are used and the camera is on a tripod, the background will be sharp and the moving subject blurred. If the camera is panned successfully with the moving subject, the background will provide most of the blur in the form of a streaking effect in the direction of the pan.

Camera shake
Movement blur may also be picked up from camera movement as a result of small vibrations transmitted to the camera from the photographer's hand. This is called 'camera shake'. To avoid camera shake, a shutter speed roughly equal to the focal length of the lens is usually recommended, e.g. 1/30 second at 28mm, 1/60 second at 50mm and 1/125 second at 135mm. Many cameras give an audible signal when shutter speeds likely to give camera shake are being used. With careful bracing, slower speeds than those recommended can be used with great success. When using slow shutter speeds the photographer can rest elbows on a nearby solid surface, breathe gently and release the shutter with a gentle squeeze than a stabbing action.

Light is the photographer's medium. The word photography is derived from the ancient Greek words photos and graph meaning 'light writing'. In photography, shadows, reflections, patterns of light, even the light source itself may be come the main subject and solid objects may become incidental to the theme.

Creating atmosphere
Directional light from the side and/or from behind a subject can produce some of the most evocative and atmospheric photographs. Most snapshots by amateurs, however, are taken either outside when the sun is high or inside with a flash mounted on the camera. Both these situations give a very flat and even light that may be ideal for some color photography but for black and white photography it all too often produce gray, dull and unintersting photographs. Learning to control light and use creatively is an essential skill for a good photographer. When studying a photograph that ahas been well lit you need to make three important observations concerning the use of light:

1. What type or quality of light is being used?
2. Where is it coming from?
3. What effect does this light have upon the subject and background?

Exposure Compensation
When you take a light meter reading of a subject you are taking an average reading between the light and the dark tones you have framed. The meter reading is accurate when there is an even distribution of tones, or the dominant tone is neither dark nor light. It is very important that you 'compensate' or adjust the exposure when the framed area is influenced by a tone that is dark, light or very bright tone. The camera's meter will be influenced by this tone and indicate an exposure setting that will reduce the light reaching the film or image sensor. In this situations you have to override the meter and increase the exposure to avoid underexposing the subject. Most cameras take information for the light reading mainly from the center of the viewfinder.

Depth of field
You can increase or decrease the amount of light reaching the film of image sensor by moving one of two controls; by changing the shutter speed (the amount of time the shutter stay open) or by changing the f-stop (the size of the aperture through the lens).
If you change the aperture, the final appearance of the photograph can differ greatly. This will be the area of sharp focus in the scene, from the nearest point that is sharp to the farthest. The zone of acceptable sharp focus is described as the 'depth of field'.

the widest apertures (f2, f4) give the least depth of field.
the smallest apertures (f16, f22) give the greatest depth of field.
the smaller the sensor, the greater the depth of field at the same aperture.

Shallow depth of field is created using the wider aperture settings of the lens. Subject matter behind and in front of the point of focus appears progressively out of focus. Due to the smaller sensors used in the prosumer digicams it is often difficult to achieve shallow depth of field unless you are working at the closest focusing distance of the lens, i.e. capturing an image using a prosumer camera using a small sensor will lead to greater depth of field than a DSLR using a lens set to the same aperture.

Maximum depth of field is created using the smaller aperture settings of the lens. The subject matter immediately in front of the lens and subject matter in the distance may appear acceptably sharp in the same image.

From photographs, each of us can learn more about the world. Images not only inform us about the products we never knew we needed, the events, people and places too distant or remote for us to see with our own eyes, but also tell us more about the things we thought we already knew. Most of us are too preoccupied to stand and look at something for any great amount of time. We glance at some thing briefly and think we have seen it.

Our conditioning or desires often tell us what we have seen or would like to see. When we look at a photograph of something ordinary, however, it may show us the object, as we had never seen it before. With a little creative imagination and a little photographic technique, it is possible to release the extraordinary from the ordinary.

Choosing a subject
In order to photograph something that will be of interest to others, you must first remove the blinkers and photograph something that is of interest to you. Your first creative decision is an important one. What will you choose to photograph? Your first technical decision is how to frame it.

Composition
Framing the subject
A common mistake make by many amateur photographers is that they stand too far away from their subject matter, in a desire to include everything. Their photographs become busy, unstructured and cluttered with unwanted detail, which distracts from the primary subject matter. Subject matter can look unimportant and not worthy of closer attention and there is also a danger that the photographer will not have control over the composition.

Filling the frame
When the photographer moves closer, distracting background can be reduced or eliminated. There are less visual elements that have to be arranged and the photographer has mush more control over the composition. Many amateurs are afraid of chopping off the top of someone's head or missing out some detail that they feel important. Unless the photograph is to act as a factual record the need to include everything is unnecessary.

Subject placement
When the photographer has chosen a subject to photograph there is often the temptation especially for the untrained eye, to place the subject in the middle of the picture without considering the overall arrangement of shapes within the frame. If the focal point is placed in the center of the frame, the viewer's eye may not move around the whoke image and this often leads to a static and uninteresting composition. The photographer should think carefully where the main subject is placed within the image, only choosing the central location after much consideration.

The rule of third
Rules of composition have been formulated to aid designers create harmonious images which are pleasing to the eye. The most common of these rules are the 'golden section' and the 'rules of thirds'.

Well.. don't worry.. there's a lot of resort and hotels where you can check in. Such as The Legend Beach resort, Corus Beach Resort and Bayu Beach Resort. Lookup in google and you'll find all the hotels and resorts that suites your budget...

The beach itself has spoken... this is a few spot that your family can hang out when you get there..

You won't get lost... there's many roadsigns showing where to stay here...

Where to eat... Thai cousine is my first choice.. but then... no reservation means no seats... nah... no worries... there a lot of place to eat also....
